Make sure while you are planting this growing season to give our pollinators a little extra love! You might be saying hmmm…what are pollinators? Our pollinators are bees, butterflies, birds and bats. These guys are facing issues due to lack of habitat and the use of pesticides and herbicides. We can help show them some love by planting species that will give them an extra boost (while helping us too – no bees no food!).
Easy ways to do this are to plant these key species:
Perennials: coneflower, milkweed, salvia, butterfly bush
Annuals: cosmos, marigold, sunflowers, zinnias
Herbs: basil (plant two – harvest one and let the other flower), lavender, oregano.
